Kanji is a Japanese writing system. When translated, the text on the merch reads “BADU”.
For the shirt design, the image of Erykah Badu begins right above the breast, extending to the midsection. The back has her tuning fork logo and says “Erykah Badu” just under the collar.
You may recognize the photo shoot — other shots from it could be seen on Badu Buses, the iconic DART collaboration unveiled just ahead of the artist’s 53rd birthday.
